WHY ARE VACCINES SO IMPORTANT ?
We are so lucky to live in a country where vaccines are readily available to protect our babies from some horrible and life threatening disease. Unfortunately some mothers are choosing not to vaccinate due to lack of information and bad press from the media and social platforms. Please make sure you are making and informed choice before deciding not. The link below will answer all your questions and hopefully reassure you that they are safe
All patients of Mountainview Surgery
I trust you are all keeping safe and well. Sadly, our practice lost a few souls to this treacherous Corona virus, but fortunately the numbers have been very small. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those concerned.
At our latest meeting this week, we consulted on, not so much the virus itself, but on the impact the Covid-19 crisis on those with chronic diseases and perhaps others who may have new symptoms of more concerning medical problems, and their hesitation at seeking medical advice. It is anticipated that after the Corona virus dust settles, there will be a multitude of medical problems in hiatus, and that there will be a backlash of conditions for which medical attention was not sought.
Dr Quinn will be posting some advice about the care of your bambinos.
We would like to stress to everyone that, even though we continue to be busy, we would like you to consult with us with any new symptoms which are not of a minor nature. If you have chronic conditions that are getting worse, eg angina, COPD, asthma, etc please contact us. For the foreseeable future we will have telephone appointments only.
Please keep safe and continue to take this virus seriously.
For the attention of parents with young children.
These are very uncertain times we are living through, we know many of you will be facing various challenges; entertaining little ones, home-schooling, working from home or going out to work as a key worker.
We wanted to ensure you are clear on how we are continuing to care for your children here at Mountainview Surgery as this global emergency continues. We are doing things differently to reduce the risk of spreading Coronavirus in our population. We are offering telephone assessment appointments rather than booking in directly to see us – much of the time we can offer advice, treatment or reassurance over the phone, but if we feel your child needs to be seen face to face we will arrange this in an appropriate setting. If your child has a rash, please send a photo in an e-mail to our reception if possible as this can really help with our assessment.
8 week baby checks are still being carried out as these are deemed essential care, and childhood vaccinations are being carried out at Crumlin Road Health Centre. Precautions are being taken to avoid risk of transmission of Coronavirus. Please ensure only one parent/guardian attends these appointments with the baby, and if you have a cough or temperature rearrange the appointment until your symptoms have resolved (at least 7 days from onset). Disposable masks will be provided to use for the duration of your appointment and the health professional will use PPPE.
